The Various Paths of my Work
In my life, I've pursued various creative paths, including visual art, music, design, and writing. Growing up in a rural setting, I drew inspiration from landscapes and remnants of old structures, sparking my fascination with the layers of time and meaning in physical spaces. In the woods behind my childhood home, I would find old decaying fence posts, rusted barbed wire, stone walls, and old foundations. These discoveries filled my mind with curiosity about a vanished time, not far out of reach.
The Wider World
Exploring larger cities stirred up my interest in the juxtaposition and layering of architectural styles, connecting them to the layers of the human mind and the intricate overlapping webs of our social structures. I was always exploring this connection between places and the dreams contained within them. These dreams have forged countless paths through textures of unknown possibilities.
The Prismatic Textiles Series
This exploration led to my ongoing Prismatic Textiles series, where I explore the interplay between physical environments, language, and the human story. The series features dense compositions blending landscapes, dreamscapes, and abstract elements, using geometry and architectural forms to unify diverse ideas. The Prismatic Textile Paintings serve as maps of various perspectives, inviting viewers to chart their own paths through the created spaces. Other works in this exhibit contain related ideas, using more traditional compositions.
